# Installation

## Prerequisites

Install PHP 8.5, Composer and the Laravel CLI with the command for your operating system.
The installer only installs these prerequisites. It does not create a Laravel or Larasell project.

:::tabs

```bash macOS
/bin/bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://larasell.dev/install/mac)"
```

```bash Linux
/bin/bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://larasell.dev/install/linux)"
```

```powershell Windows
Set-ExecutionPolicy Bypass -Scope Process -Force; [Net.ServicePointManager]::SecurityProtocol = [Net.ServicePointManager]::SecurityProtocol -bor 3072; iex ((New-Object Net.WebClient).DownloadString('https://larasell.dev/install/windows'))
```

:::

Quit and reopen your terminal after installation.

## Installing Larasell

Once you have PHP, Composer and the Laravel CLI installed, you can create a new Laravel project by running:

```bash
laravel new example-store
```

After you completed the installation you can add Larasell to your application.

```
cd ./example-store
composer require larasell-dev/larasell
```

This installs Larasell as a composer package. The package adds all relevant classes like Eloquent models, events and commands that you need to build a store.

The package also adds some database migrations that we need to run:

```bash
php artisan migrate
```

Now, install the npm dependencies we need to work on the frontend.

After that, run the composer `dev` script to start the local development server, queue worker and Vite development server. Then, you can reach your application via the web browser at [http://localhost:8000](http://localhost:8000)

```bash
npm install
composer dev
```

Congrats! You now have Larasell running on your machine.

You might think: "This looks like just a normal Laravel application." That's the intention.
When starting out Larasell does not do much. The idea is that you are in full control on what
you want to do, we provide building blocks and take care of the grunt work.

You can decide how the storefront should look like. Want to use Vue.js over React.js? Thinking about using Inertia or maybe Tanstack Start or Astro? Or do you want to build a mobile app? That is up to you. Larasell's goal is to make it as easy and fun as possible for you.

Speaking of easy. You can try out our [starter kit](https://larasell.dev/docs/starter-kit.md) built with Inertia and React.js. It creates you a working storefront in minutes.
